BLACKBIRD.

Oh, Blackbird thou of finest voice
Who sings from early morn?
How is it you are so cheerful
When I can only yawn

It does not seem to worry you
Come rain or snow or drought
Even amidst a thunderstorm
Your dulcet tones ring out

And for your size you are so brave
Defending nest and young
Seeing off the Magpie
With sharp side of your tongue

When autumn comes you do not flit
As so many others do
To warmer climbs and sunshine
Oh! not the likes of you

You will stay throughout the winter
Regardless of the snow
And glisten black against the white
Putting on a super show.
