Who Have Always Been There for Me
I would like to thank all of those who have helped me to create this work. I first and foremost owe a debt of gratitude to my advisor, Professor Douglas Massey, who has provided me with useful commentary throughout the writing process. In many ways this work is an extension of Professor Masseys holistic contributions to the field of immigration policy. I owe a special thanks to The Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic (HIRC) as well. Attorneys Deborah Anker, Nancy Kelly, John Willshire-Carrera, and Anne Mackin have all helped me to grow as a problem solver and decision maker and have inspired me in countless ways. Working for HIRC has truly been one of the best experiences thus far in my lifean experience that has added greatly to my broad knowledge base. Furthermore, my participation in Professor Ankers Harvard Law School seminar on immigration policy helped me to develop the ideas contained within this work.
My Fathers editing and my Mothers moral support were both invaluable; each of them, whether they know it or not, undoubtedly helped to ensure that I maintained a steady pace in my research and writing. My collective experiences at Princeton University, both in the classroom and elsewhere, have surely played a monumental role in the shaping of this thesis. And finally, I would like to thank my friends Michael Treadow, David Rosen, Daniel Marks, Winston Smith, Perry Palmedo, and Jamie Miller. I have associated with this cast of characters more than anyone else on Princetons campus. I thank each of them for keeping me sane and making sure that I spent an exorbitant amount of time having fun.
