Den and Caroline turned up at Bret’s house the following morning. He greeted them. More specifically he greeted Caroline enthusiastically as he opened the door.
“Melissa and Steve do come in. Good to see you again. And you are on time as well.”
“Thanks Mr. Jensen, we pride ourselves on our punctuality”– Caroline said. “We’ll get started straight away. You won’t even know we’re here. We should get it all done in three days.”
“All right then I’ll leave you to it. Don’t hesitate to give me a shout if you want to ask me anything or want a drink or whatever. I’ve not got anything important to do today.”
Den and Caroline did indeed set about installing a security system. It just wasn’t a very good one. Completely unknown to Bret as they did it, they were also fitting their surveillance equipment. Caroline managed to avoid any more sleazy moments with Bret, with a little help from Den being the protective husband with a hint of jealousy.
On their lunch break Den and Caroline went back to the gang in the motel and updated them on their progress. Den and Caroline told them that three of the four phones in the house were now bugged. And they’d started setting up some of the cameras. Jensen not leaving the house all day didn’t make their job any easier. There was one room that had a safe in it and Den and Caroline were very curious to find out what a lottery winner would keep in a safe.
