The four of them sat on the benches, Ryan and Lori on one and Lee and Shannon on another. Going over the clue in their minds.
“A friendly song?” What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Shannon was the first to break the silent thought period.
“I know, there’s loads of songs you could describe as friendly”– Ryan added.
“That name is bugging me. I know I’ve heard somewhere before. It must be somebody famous who’s known by another name”– Lori said.
“Let’s work on that for now because the song thing is way too vague”– Lee suggested.
“The van in the name suggests Dutch or Belgian”– Ryan said.
“It does but it might just be their heritage, family name type thing”– Lori replied.
“Well, our list of famous Belgians will be very short and topped by a fictional detective. So lets see if we can list a few famous Dutch people.” Shannon said.
“Yeah all right lets reel a few off”– Lori agreed.
“I can’t get footballers out of my head”– Ryan said then got a strange look from the other three. “Soccer players to you.”
“You know Belgium gets a lot of stick for this. But listing famous Dutch people isn’t that easy either”– Lee admitted after a few moments of silence.
“List some of the Dutch Masters”– Ryan suggested.
“And I don’t mean Cruyft, Neeskens, Van Basten and Gullitt”– he added and got more blank looks.
“Artists, that its! That name is Rembrandt’s”– Lori announced joyously.
“Well I’d like to think my nonsensical ramblings helped you get that answer”– Ryan said.
“So what’s this about the friendly song?” Shannon wondered.
“Oh Shannon, don’t worry; I’ll be there for you”– Ryan said to her. Then he looked at her and waited for her to get on his wavelength.
“Because I’m there for you too”– Shannon got on Ryan’s wavelength within a few seconds and pointed at him and smiled to acknowledge that fact.
“Theme tune to Friends”– Lee jumped onto the wavelength.
“Sung by the Rembrandts”– Lori completed the connection out loud.
“Really don’t think a town this size would have an art gallery, though”– Ryan said. “So I’m guessing we’re going back in there.”
They all headed back into the library and found the next clue in the middle of book about Rembrandt.
“This great little man started in Italy but was finished by quarter past six”– Shannon read the clue out.
