Ella Mamedov looked worried as she put on her belt with attached pistol holster and knife. She knew that Tafar told her to stay in Tbilisi, but he also told her that he would check in with her every two hours, and that was nearly eight hours ago. Out of desperation, she called Tafar’s uncle to see if he had heard from him, but she was told that he was out of town. She quickly called for a rental car that would be delivered to the hotel within the hour. She also called Vano and Zurab, who were at home catching up on some sleep, and told them to meet her at the hotel to discuss the operation.
“What do you suppose she wants?” Zurab asked as he and Vano climbed the hotel stairway up to the fourth floor.
“I guess we’ll find out in a few minutes,” Vano said.
“A beautiful woman asks us to meet her in her hotel room, she could have met us anywhere,” Zurab said with a lecherous look on his face.
“What are you crazy? You’d better erase those thoughts from your head quick,” Vano said as he stopped on a stairway landing and grabbed his friend by the arm. “You listen to me, I don’t care if she’s stark naked when we get there, we’re gonna run the hell out of there as quick as we can. What if Tafar’s waiting in the closet with that sharp knife of his, he’ll cut off every limb that we have, if you get my drift.”
Zurab nodded his head and his outlook quickly turned from anticipation to dread by the time they get to the room.
Vano knocked on the door and gave Zurab a serious look to make sure he doesn’t do anything that they might regret. Much to their relief, Ella was fully dressed in her military uniform when she answered the door and asked them to come in.
“I needed to talk to you because I have to go to Azerbaijan to help Tafar,” Ella said as she continued to finish packing.
“Tafar’s uncle told us that you two could be trusted to keep working and to keep your mouths shut about the operation, is this true?”
“Yes Ma’am,” they said in unison.
“If you need anything at all, call me at the same number that you were given earlier, I’ll have my phone with me at all times.”
She looked directly at them and said, “Will you be okay?”
They both nodded their heads.
She walked over to a table and poured two large glasses of wine and handed them to the men with a smile on her face that finally put the men at ease having never seen her smile before.
“Let’s drink a toast to our partnership and our mission, we will be rich very soon,” Ella said.
“To our mission,” the two men repeat as they took a long drink.”
When they brought the wineglasses down from their faces they were stunned when they saw that, Ella had her long sharp knife held against Vano’s chest and her pistol against Zurab’s.
“If I get back from Azerbaijan and find that you two did anything to jeopardize this mission, you will not have to worry about Tafar, because I will cut you in places that you didn’t know that you had. You’ll feel so much pain that you’ll be begging Tafar to kill you, and as you know, he doesn’t have any mercy for fools.”
“She pressed the knife and gun into the two men a little harder and said, “Can I trust you two?”
They both nodded their heads emphatically.
“Good, now get the hell out of here and get ready for work.”
The two men hurried over to the door and started to open it until they heard her say, “Wait, I believe you forgot something.”
The two men looked at each other, then looked at Ella wondering what they forgot.
“You were told you not to drink any booze before you went to work.” She yelled as she flung her knife that just missed the two men as it stuck in the hotel room door just above their heads.
“Get out of here before I kill you now,” she screamed as she pulled out her pistol and pointed it at them. Vano and Zurab raced out of the room slamming the door behind them.
