Agent Henry Carr had a pretty good day so far. He hopped a quick Georgia Airzena flight at the International Airport in Vienna and before long the plane touched down in the port city of Batumi, Georgia where one of his men was waiting to pick him up. He had a good meeting with his eight-man team and was grateful that they were all experienced. He had them fan out across the docks and up and down the coastline looking for anything unusual.
It wasnt much more than two hours after Frank Prescott called to tell him to be on the lookout for a blue rental truck carrying citrus crates, when Henry spotted one pulling on the docks. From his position in the second floor of a warehouse on the waterfront, Henry couldnt believe his luck when the truck stopped next to a freighter less than two blocks from where he was. He set down his binoculars and called his men to report back to his position. He then placed a call to Hoskins on his sat phone.
We found them, Jack, theyre loading the crates on a freighter right now.
Good work, Henry, when is the ship scheduled to sail? Hoskins asked from the front seat of the CIAs black Mercedes as it sped along the western road in Georgia.
Henry looked at the list he got from the Batumi port master and said, Its not supposed to leave until 11:00 A.M. tomorrow.
Good, pick a good time to move in and take the canisters.
Are you sure you dont want us to follow the ship and take them at their next delivery point? Henry asked.
Id like nothing more, but its too risky. If theres anyway that you could swap the cesium with a fake without them knowing about it, do it. If not, I want you to get that cesium and take it to our safe zone ASAP.
I understand, Ill keep you posted.
Hoskins hung up the phone.
Wheres the safe zone? Brad Spencer asked after overhearing the conversation.
We have an armored containment facility in Germany that we use to store radioactive products, and well all breathe a lot easier once we get these cans up there.
Hoskins looked out the window but could not see any helpful road signs.
Okay, gentlemen, how far are we from the Azerbaijani border?
Azerbaijan is approximately seventy miles from Tbilisi, David Gorridge said.
We should be at the border in less than an hour, Frank said, I dont like our chances of catching them once they cross the border and get into the Azerbaijani mountains.
