If the algorithms in chapter 5 did not work for you, this chapter is for you. If the algorithms did work for you, this chapter is still for you. Knowing how to clear blocks to treatment is just as important as knowing the treatment itself.
Before we discuss blocks to treatment, it will be helpful to review some common problems that may affect results, but are unrelated to blocks. It is possible that your body did respond, but the response wasnt obvious. Check the following:
When the body doesnt respond to the algorithms, there is a reason. The block is usually caused by one of the following:
REVERSALSBy far, the most common block to treatment is a reversal. Reversals have been described as a literal reversal of the flow of energy in the bodys meridian system. In psychological terms, reversals can be understood as a conflict between our conscience and subconscious desires and beliefs. For example, we may say and think that we want to gain relief from the discomfort of trauma, but subconsciously, we may not want to let go of the hurt. As mentioned in an earlier chapter, this doesnt make sense. Why would a part of us not want to feel better? It doesnt make sense because our deep level, subconscious belief system doesnt operate on logic.
Reversals affect more than this treatment. For example, an overweight person may want to lose weight. This person tries one diet after another with the same results; just as the diet begins to work, he/she falls off the wagon and gains back the lost weight. There very well may be a reversal involved. A common scenario is the female who has suffered sexual abuse. Subconsciously, she does not want to lose weight because she may become more attractive to males, which may lead to sexual abuse. It becomes a subconscious safety issue.
CORRECTING REVERSALSNow, what can be done about reversals? Often, a reversal can be corrected by massaging the sore spot, tapping on the side of hand and under the nose. This is why tapping these points at the beginning of each treatment was suggested.
Sometimes a reoccurring reversal will occur. When this happens, discomfort begins to drop during the treatment, but then stops. The body seems to put on the brakes when it senses improvement. This type of reversal can often be corrected by massaging the sore spot in a circular motion for 10 or 15 seconds, or until the soreness disappears.
SUPER REVERSAL BUSTERIf the above corrections do not work try this technique: Rub the sore spot continuously in a circular motion and say each of the following statements three times:
MASSIVE REVERSALSIt is possible for a person to be reversed in almost every aspect of their life. When this occurs the reversals cannot be quickly corrected. The reversals actually become the treatment issue. In my experience, massive reversals are often associated with clinical depression. If this is the case, professional treatment may be required to reduce depression before the reversals will begin to unravel.
In cases of massive reversal, it is helpful to treat the reversals several times per day. This may only involve tapping the side of hand, under nose and massaging the sore spot several times per day, perhaps every hour. This can be done discretely. The affirmations listed above could also be done several times per day, but may require more privacy. Consider doing the affirmations when you go to the bathroom, as you will have privacy at that time.
You should begin to feel some relief from reversals after one or two weeks of this. Many people feel an emotional release just from correcting reversals.
Chances are that you do not have a massive reversal. However, it does happen and its something you should be aware of.
ALLERGIES / TOXINSThe presence of allergens or toxins can interfere with a treatment. It may sound strange, but this refers to allergens and toxins to the bodys energy system. When we speak of allergies, we usually think of rashes. However, an energy allergen or toxin may only affect the bodys energy system. For this reason, we are often unaware of its presence.
In my personal experience working with clients in my office, perfume, lotions, after-shave lotions, new unwashed clothing, tobacco smoke, and washing detergent were the most common culprits. Consider checking these things first.
If you suspect that an allergen or toxin is interfering, try the treatment in a different location. Just after a bath would be a good time. Be sure to wash off all soap and avoid soap and shampoo with heavy fragrance.
Another important thing to know is that allergies can undo treatments. I recall one female client who was treated for anxiety with this approach. The treatment was quite successful. A few weeks later, she took a trip with her family. On the way out of town the anxiety suddenly returned. She had changed perfume. She returned to my office, responded well to another treatment, and avoided the new perfume. If symptoms suddenly return, you have probably been exposed to an allergen or toxin.
COLLARBONE BREATHING TECHNIQUEThe need for this technique is rare. In fact, it is more likely that you need a different combination of treatment points than you need this exercise. For this reason, I suggest trying the technique in the next chapter before using this exercise.
However, in a small percentage of cases the bodys energy system is so disorganized that it cannot respond to treatment. This exercise helps correct the disorganization. When its needed, this exercise is quite helpful.
When performing this exercise, avoid letting your arms or elbows touch your body. Only your finger tips or knuckles should be touching your body as described in the exercise.
To perform the collarbone breathing exercise do the following:
You are now halfway through the exercise. To complete the exercise repeat the above, but use your left index and middle fingers to touch the collarbone points and your right hand to tap the gamut spot. With practice, this exercise can be done in two or three minutes.
DIFFERENT COMBINATIONYou may need additional treatment points or a different order of points. Ideally you would be able to sit down with a trained therapist who could use muscle testing to quickly determine the order of treatment.
Fortunately, Gary Craig, a former student of Dr. Callahan, discovered another way to do this. His approach is called Emotional Freedom Techniques [EFT]. We will discuss his approach in the next chapter.
