Tantse Thompson

I was born in Bermondsey, London, the youngest of nine children and attended St. Josephs RC school. The family moved to Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire when I was 9yrs old. A year later I entered a poetry competition for BBC Radio Schools and won first prize, which was having my poem; 'Arthur and Guinevere'; read out on the radio.
I married in 1975 and have three beautiful daughters and five wonderful grandchildren.
I have always enjoyed using my imagination, something I believe was nurtured by my love of reading at an early age and growing up with all things 'Enid Blyton'.
My interest in drawing comes from my father who was extremely talented. Along with my mother, he encouraged us to use the gifts we were given and to do our best on whatever path we had chosen.
I married my second husband in 1992 and it was through Roy that 'Dragonspower' was born. I had finished a number of drawings on the same theme and he suggested that I should write a story around these.
Before he died in 2004 Roy asked me, 'What happened to tomorrow?'
I now live with my two dogs; whom I love dearly despite their incessant barking; and try to apply the lesson of Roys' question to my daily life by embracing each day and finding the joy and beauty in it, fair weather or foul.
I love animals and nature and find being with both is a place where I can let my mind run free of all the cares of living and relax in the inspiration that surrounds them.
