Successful trader and business man Isaiah Ofodile built his dream house in the sleepy suburb of Bajinko where he moved in with his wife, Alice and son Ikechukwu. Hakim, the son of the caretaker became Ikechukwu’s close friend and both the boys eventually became inseparable and Hakim was “adopted” as a member of the Ofodile’s household. The intrigues and violence that marks Nigerian politics cascaded into their lives. Events came to a crescendo when goons and instigators of the religious carnage that eventually engulfed the peaceful city of Kaduna were given shelter to escape the law. It all also becomes twisted and dangerous when Hakim saw the goons in his father’s house but was warned not to talk about them to anybody for fear of his benefactor and employer finding then living practically with him in the same roof in such dire times.
