Lesley Chambers was educated at Mirfield Secondary Modern School in West Yorkshire and left school at the age of seventeen to work in a bank and later at Huddersfield Unemployment Benefit office as it was then known. Her career was interrupted by severe psychiatric illness, diagnosed as Bi-Polar Disorder. She continued to work for several years as an office “temp” until her condition deteriorated to a point that it did not allow her to work. She was later diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a combination of disorders which makes the Bi-Polar element extremely difficult to treat successfully. Lesley’s poems, written over a period of three years at the turn of the century, had a cathartic effect. Thanks to pressure and advice from friends and family her poems have now been submitted for publication.
Lesley Chambers was born in 1957 and has lived in Mirfield in West Yorkshire all her life. She has been married to Eric for thirty years and has one son and two cats Ziggy (an insane Tonkinese) and Molly (the most beautiful cat in the world). Lesley’s hobbies include reading, taking care of her cats, and continually dealing with annoying psychiatrists.

A Few Brief Words is a collection of poems which represent the feelings, fears and imagination of the author as she rides the rollercoaster of her tumultuous life. Each work represents a powerful emotion and together the collection of poems show the emotional journey traveled by the author over three momentous years, shaped by the eventful history of her life up to that point.
The poems range from the darkest nightmares to the lightest moments of whimsy, through fantasy and living with Bi-Polar Disorder, and, of course, cats. On the other hand, they are a collection of varying pieces - some funny, some sad, some fearful and some angry. Something in it for everyone, really!
