 | Harley Miller | |
|
Harley Miller was dubbed a lovable eccentric by one of his author colleagues; and its a badge he wears with great pride. Well he remembers, the days when people smirked when they learnt he was a full-time, professional artist. But those days are behind him. Hes proven his art was not a whim, or an abdication from mainstream life.
For more than two decades, Harleys art has generated enough income for him to meet the same financial obligations most people accept as the norm. He paid his mortgage, paid the car running expenses, make sure the household bills were paid on time, and kept the food cupboards well stocked, so his wife and children did not go hungry. And he did it with passion and commitment.
Harley Miller proved the sceptics wrong. He showed them that full-time employment, as an artist (or painter as he prefers to be called), can be as financial rewarding as the more traditional jobs most people engage in. And in the process he demonstrated that having the courage to follow his dream, gave his life deeper meaning and brought a level of personal fulfilment few people experience.

The book shows
visual artists how to identify personal strengths, recognise local
opportunities, build confidence, cost their work and set fees, design
promotional material, promote and market their work, make approaches, form
workable agreements, understand and apply copyright and maintain a
