Dotun Adesida was born into a humble family in Nigeria. He was raised in Akure, the capital of Ondo, a state in West Nigeria. He is the fourth child and the oldest son of his parents who made a big sacrifice to provide for the financial means of his education. He went on to complete his primary and secondary schooling in his local community. As a student Dotun discovered that he possessed an exceptional ability to express himself through the written word. His natural talent and passion for writing made him realise that he could use literature as a vehicle to express his ideas on his vast knowledge of his countrymen and women, to help people from other cultures gain an insight into his beloved Africa.
Dotun used the power of Literature to educate, change stereotypes and promote political values, and he quickly became committed to using this power to transform attitudes.
He is currently studying law at an institute of higher learning and has found his true vocation in teaching. When he completes this course, he hopes to have the opportunity to study Caribbean Literature and Politics at the University of Columbia.
Other works by Dotun Adesida: Ponderous Shadows and Gone Till Dawn, which he completed in 2003. Both these titles are currently being prepared for general publication.

As the title suggests, only faith can offer protection against the harsh conditions in a place torn by civil war, food shortages, and scarcity of medical supplies - with no medicine, no beds for the sick, no medical doctor, no running water, no electricity, no classrooms, no sewerage, no factories, not even workshops only a continuous cycle of hardships and deaths.
Dotun paints a sordid picture of the harsh ground realities of corruption, nepotism, bribery and administrative incompetence. At the same time he brings to life a true picture of old Nigerian customs practiced in the villages as well as life in the large metropolis, Lagos.
The protagonist, after a direct pledge to God to spare his life, in the midst of the civil war, becomes a Christian and goes on to study religion. Written in a lovely style, this book is a testimony to African realities, especially to Nigeria a populous country, divided on the basis of beliefs in different Gods.
