This is a collection of three short stories by Arunabh Banerjee. The Dream is a short story which chronicles a day in the life of an ordinary poor child cobbler who dreams about an extraordinary thing in the mean streets of the big city. He is fascinated with a thin black wand. He imagines the immense and extraordinary power of the wand overtaking his body and soul. He creates an imaginary world bedizened by the colors of joy and happiness. Arunabh believes that the dreams of a poor child are extraordinary and powerful enough to give back the world its own old brilliance and glow but to unleash itself it needs the help of an ordinary act.
Play It is a story about a boys experience on the playfield. Arunabh describes, in great detail, how he played and was victorious in a small part of his life on the football ground and for that he won a huge prize and recognition. Arunabh wonders what he would get if he played and won his whole life.
The Crying Child is about three children Adam, Eve and Nature. The author tries to bring out the fact that nature is crying out to be rescued as it is facing depletion at the hands of humans represented by the older children, Adam and Eve.
